Convenience

With the integration of emerging technologies in the fashion industry, it is evident that consumers will be able to benefit from the increased convenience that these new innovations will provide. The clothes and the shoes we wear are necessities of our everyday life and by combining technological functions with these necessities, there is constant access to solutions that satisfy our needs. Even if they may not be considered necessities for some (such as watches or prescription glasses), the fact that fashion items are worn close to our bodies makes solutions readily accessible.
In a future of fashion and technology, consumers can be constantly updated on important data on the go. They will be able to power electronic devices with the clothing they wear or with their shoes. They may even be able to print as many fitting customized garments and accessories from home. The wearable password would also remove the need for us to manually type in physical passwords for access to our properties and is especially useful for the forgetful.
However, since it is so readily accessible and convenient, consumers are more susceptible to being overly-reliant on these fashion technologies. We may become preoccupied with connecting with these technologies (specifically the Google Glass, smartwatches and possibly the virtual fitting room) that social interactions become limited. It will be to our disadvantage in the event when these technologies suffer a temporary break down and when we feel at a loss without them - our lives will be significantly disrupted.
